With flu season surging in Pennsylvania, the Purchase Line School District has posted a public letter reminding parents to keep their children home if they are sick. It advises that it’s better for the child and helps slow the spread of the illness to others in the school community.
Among the conditions to watch for: a fever of 100 degrees or higher in the last 24 hours without medication, vomiting or diarrhea, bacterial infection (for which the child should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours), pink eye, or a sore throat with a fever.
The school district also asks that it be provided with a phone number to call at all times and that someone always be available if a child needs to be picked up and taken home.
