The Indiana County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of K-9 Kort, who passed away Wednesday at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Kort served with the sheriff’s office since 2020, aiding in narcotics detection and utility work, which included tracking, area and article searches, and building searches. Along with that, Kort visited schools and community events to show local residents his on-the-clock skills while spreading drug awareness.
Kort was beloved by the sheriff’s office, according to a Facebook post, and he was remembered especially for his companion-like nature, which ranged from greeting those that walked into the county courthouse to working with deputies.
