The NHL is on its two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, but the Penguins are very much involved. Sidney Crosby practiced for Team Canada yesterday and afterward said he’s ready to play in tomorrow’s opener against Sweden. He missed the Penguins last two games before the break after suffering an arm injury last Tuesday against New Jersey.
Crosby says he felt good on the ice working with his new teammates.
Crosby said he relishes the opportunity to represent his home country.
Even though he is busy coaching Team USA, Penguins’ coach Mike Sullivan was keeping an eye on Crosby’s activities with Team Canada. Sullivan says it will feel odd being behind the opposite bench from Crosby but he’s thrilled that his superstar center is able to play.
The Penguins’ Erik Karlsson and Rickard Rakell are both playing for Team Sweden. Former Penguins Jake Guentzel is skating for Mike Sullivan with Team USA.
Team Canada opens against Sweden tomorrow while Team USA plays Thursday against Finland. Canada and the US play each other on Saturday.
