Over the next two nights, municipal governments will meet at the Homer-Center Senior High Auditorium to vote on whether to cede control of emergency services to the county.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:00 PM tonight and tomorrow night. Each entity that attends will take a vote on whether they wish to enter the county EMS Authority by delegating “the administration of emergency services to a municipality authority”, according to a legal notice. The purpose of the authority is to administer emergency medical services in each of the participating municipalities.
Each ordinance says that the municipality determines that it will benefit from the provision of emergency medical services by the authority, designates the municipality as a service district, the selection of a representative to the authority, and proper officers of the municipality are authorized to do such acts to carry out the enacted ordinance.
Six borough councils and 15 township boards of supervisors will be in attendance tonight, with seven boroughs and seven townships expected to attend tomorrow’s meeting.
The meetings are open to the public.
