BASKETBALL
Pitt basketball coach Jeff Capel is hoping his team takes the lessons of Saturday’s win at Syracuse into tonight’s home game against North Carolina. The Panthers are 13-6, 4-4 in the ACC. The Tar Heels come into the game at 13-8, and 6-3.
Capel says the Penguins beat Syracuse because they turned up the defensive intensity. He’s looking for “five guys guarding the ball, not just the one guy who’s on the ball.”
Airtime for Pitt/North Carolina tonight is 8:30, with tipoff just after 9.
