IUP has hired former West Virginia State coach Avery Moore as its new head volleyball coach.
Last season’s Mountain East Coach of the Year, Moore coached the Yellow Jackets for just one season, leading them to a 24-10 record and a conference championship. They lost to Gannon in the NCAA Atlantic Regional. She was an assistant at Charleston for a year and coached club and high school volleyball before that.
She was a three-time all-conference player at Division II Lubbock Christian.
Moore takes over for former coach Lo Hoyer, who left IUP in December to take over the volleyball program at UNC Wilmington. IUP was 24-9 last season and won the PSAC before losing to Wheeling in the Atlantic regional semifinals.
