IUP baseball is favored to win the PSAC West in the preseason coaches’ poll. Slippery Rock is number two, followed by Seton Hill, Cal, and Gannon rounding out the top five. West Chester is the pick in the East, followed by Millersville, East Stroudsburg, Shippensburg, and Shepherd.
IUP was 41-18 last season, advancing all the way to the NCAA Final Four. Coach Steve Kline returns a majority of last year’s roster, including All-PSAC Second Team outfielder Ricardo Aponte
Other returnees are outfielders Au’sean Owens, Robert Carfagno, and Elijah Dunn, catcher Davin Landers, infielders David Kessler and Peyton Johnson, and pitchers Jimmy Tooley, Derrick Shields, and Jake Black.
IUP opens its season February 21st at South Carolina-Aiken. The first PSAC games are a home doubleheader against Shepherd on March 8th.
