A Florida man was sentenced yesterday for guilty pleas connected with an incident during IUPatty’s weekend last year.
Indiana County Judge Gina Force ordered 35-year-old Brandon Rosenberger to serve one to five years in state prison for charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. On March 22nd of last year, a state trooper on IUPatty’s detail saw Rosenberger speeding along Philadelphia Street. When he tried to initiate a traffic stop, Rosenberger lead the trooper on a brief chase, with speeds reaching 92 miles an hour at one point. After stopping the car on Church Street, Rosenberger tried to flee on foot, but police were able to subdue him using their tasers. Once in custody, he admitted to using meth and being awake for five days.
District attorney Robert Manzi thanked troopers for their work, and said that Rosenberger “placed members of the Pennsylvania State Police, members of our community and himself in grave danger.”
