The Steelers’ TJ Watt is one of five finalists for the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, but he is not a favorite to win it. Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II is the favorite. The other finalists are Watt’s nemesis, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson (the NFL sack leader), and Eagles linebacker Zack Baun.
Watt yesterday withdrew from participation in the Pro Bowl, citing injury. He will be replaced by Ravens edge rusher Kyle Van Noy.

NFL Conference Championship Weekend has arrived, with the NFC kicking it off on Sunday afternoon with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Washington Commanders and the AFC championship game between the Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills to follow in Kansas City.
Both of the games will be heard on WCCS, starting with the pregame for the Eagles and Commanders at 2:30.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have filled the last head coaching vacancy in the NFL by hiring Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who had withdrawn his candidacy on Wednesday because he didn’t want to work with general manager Trent Baalke. That led to Baalke and the Jags parting ways and to Coen reconsidering.
