Last night’s Blairsville Borough Council meeting had a recurring theme of public safety.
Councilman Ab Dettorre said that as part of the meeting, he warned people against trying to walk onto the ice on the Conemaugh River. He said that some areas that look thick could actually be areas of thin ice for various reasons.
He said the best advice to give is to stay clear of the Conemaugh River.
The council also heard the quarterly report from the Blairsville Fire Department and discussed the upcoming Emergency Medical Services Meeting on January 29th at 7:00 PM at Homer-Center Junior/Senior High School.
Council also notified the public that the $4.00 drought surcharge will continue to appear on the municipal authority bill for foreseeable future. This is to pay for water that was purchased to supply the community during last year’s drought.
