At their meeting Wednesday morning, Indiana County’s Commissioners certified county funds geared towards farmland preservation.
Through the combination of $20,000 in match funds from county revenues and $10,668 in rollover money from the 2024 County Clean and Green program, approximately $30,668 will go towards purchasing agricultural conservation easements in 2025.
Commissioner Sherene Hess said that amount was right around what they expected.
The deadline for farmers to apply is March 25 and applications can be found on the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development’s website.
