HERITAGE CONFERENCE BOYS BASKETBALL

An impressive win for Homer-Center, topping Northern Cambria, 47-45. The Wildcats erased a seven-point deficit with a 13-4 fourth quarter. Eight of the 13 were free throws while the Colts did not make a foul shot in the entire game. Homer-Center had three players in double figures, led by Max Voyda with 15. Joey Kosmack scored 13 and Angelo Alexander 10. Ty Dumm led all scorers with 21 for the Colts and Malik Fox had 10.
West Shamokin continues to dominate in the Heritage West, handing East leader Conemaugh Township its first loss, 49-42. Bradyn Rodgers scored 19 points and Alex Talmadge added 15 for the Wolves, who are 11-2, with both of those losses coming in the conference. CT dropped to 7-3.
Conemaugh Valley beat Marion Center, 64-55. The Stingers were led by Noah McCoy’s 20 points and Kamden Rozier’s 17.
Portage topped Penns Manor, 72-55.
Cambria Heights routed Purchase Line, 58-35.
WRESTLING
On Senior Salute Night, Indiana dropped a Section match against Armstrong, 41-22. Winners for the Indians were Hunter Williams, Sean Parks, Nico Fanella , Carter Putt, Jackson Higgins, Connor Sevajian, and Takwon Davis. Indiana is 1-2 in the Section and 4-5 overall.
SWIMMING
Homer-Center’s swim teams traveled to Altoona yesterday and the boys won their meet against the Mountain Lions, 84-71, while the girls were defeated in a close one, 91-78.
The Wildcats’ boys won nine events. Dan Jones won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Trevor Cameron won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, while Brady Frazer took the 200 freestyle and Landon Shoup won the 500 freestyle with a new team record. The boys also swept all three relays. The team of Cameron, Frazer, Shoup, and Jones won the 200 medley relay; Frazer, Oshen Maratita, Jones, and Cameron took the 200 freestyle relay; and Shoup, Maratita, Carter Henry, and Isaac Ditter finished first in the 400 freestyle relay.
The girls also had nine first-place finishes in eleven events. Ava King won both the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle, Morgan Nagy took the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Vanessa Uher finished first in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Danielle Uher picked up her first varsity win in the 200 individual medley and slashed over 9 seconds off her previous time. The relay team of King, Nagy, Vanessa Uher, and Alaina Bell won the 200 medley relay, and the Uher sisters, joined by King and Nagy, claimed the 400 freestyle relay.
As a team, swimmers combined to drop a total of 133 seconds in their race times. Notable personal bests came from Landon Shoup, Brady Frazer, Oshen Maratita, Carter Henry, Bridgett Uher, and Ava King. Thomas shaved 39 seconds off her 200 freestyle, and Uher dropped 24 seconds in the 500 freestyle. Alaina Bell took 11 seconds off both her 200 IM and 100 backstroke times.
