Pitt plays one of the best teams in the country, traveling to Durham, North Carolina to take on 4th-ranked Duke tonight. Both the Panthers and the Blue Devils are 12-2, with Pitt at 3-0 in the ACC and Duke at 4-0.
Pitt and Duke split the series last season, with the Blue Devils winning in Pittsburgh, 75-53 and the Panthers returning the favor in Durham, 80-76.
Pitt coach Jeff Capel, a former Duke player and assistant coach, says Duke is a great basketball team led by 6-9 freshman Cooper Flagg, their top scorer at 17.4 points per game.
Having played his college basketball as Duke’s point guard, Capel knows the atmosphere at Cameron Indoor Stadium will be wild.
Duke coach Jon Scheyer is expected back on the bench tonight after missing Saturday’s game at SMU due to illness.
Pitt guard Damian Dunn is closer to returning from his dislocated thumb and could even be available tonight. Dunn suffered the thumb injury and sprained his ankle on the same play against Wisconsin in November. He was to be re-evaluated yesterday.
Tonight’s game tips off at 7 o’clock. We’re on the air at 6:30 on WCCS.

The new college basketball coaches poll has Tennessee remaining number one, followed by Auburn, Iowa State, Duke and Alabama. Marquette, Kentucky, Florida, Texas A&M and UConn round out the remainder of the top 10. Pitt is up to number 26, just behind Utah State. The AP Poll has the same top five with the same next five shuffled around. Pitt is number 26 in that poll, too.
