The Steelers will try to put their four-game losing streak behind them as they head to Baltimore to take on the rival Ravens in the first round of the AFC playoffs. The game will be Saturday night, kicking off at 8 PM.
The Steelers are the number six seed, and the Ravens are number three. The teams split their season series, with the Steelers winning, 18-16, in Pittsburgh on November 17th and the Ravens taking the rematch December 21st, 34-17, in Baltimore.
Even with their storied rivalry, the Steelers and Ravens have only played four playoff games against each other, all of them in Pittsburgh, with the Steelers winning three of the four, in 2001, 2008, and 2010. The last time they met in the postseason, Baltimore won, in 2014.
Coach Mike Tomlin said after Saturday’s loss to Cincinnati that the Steelers have to turn it around after losing four straight games.
Tomlin wasn’t interested in forgetting the way the regular season ended. He says it’s better to use the losses as fuel for a playoff run.
In 16 seasons coaching against each other, Tomlin and the Ravens’ John Harbaugh have met 36 times, second most behind the Bears’ George Halas and the Packers’ Curly Lambeau’s 49. Tomlin holds the edge, 20-16.
The other games in the Wild Card round of the playoffs are an AFC matchup of the Texans and Chargers on Saturday, the Broncos at the Bills on Sunday, and a pair of NFC games on Sunday…the Packers visit the Eagles, and the Washington Commanders travel to Tampa Bay to play the Bucs. The Vikings visit the Rams in LA next Monday night to close out the opening weekend of the playoffs. The Chiefs and Lions earned the first week byes.
