The Steelers lost their fourth straight game, the regular season finale, to the Bengals, 19-17. They will open the playoffs at either Houston or Baltimore next week, depending on the result of the Chargers’ game against the Raiders today.
Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson had three-and-a-half sacks and a pass defended as Cincinnati’s defense gave up just 193 total yards. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 277 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Ja’Marr Chase caught 10 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.
The Bengals have won five straight games to finish the regular season 9-and-8. They need a Denver Broncos loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and a Miami Dolphins loss or tie against the New York Jets to make the playoffs.
Russell Wilson was 17 of 31 passing for 148 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Pat Freiermuth had eight receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown.
The Steelers are 10-and-7 and are currently the six-seed in the AFC. They would rise to the five-seed and play at Houston in the first round of the playoffs if the Raiders beat the Chargers today. If the Chargers top the Raiders, the Steelers will play at Baltimore next week.
