The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is giving its approval to funding for more than two dozen rail infrastructure projects including many in Western Pennsylvania.
Fifty-five-million dollars has been allocated by the State Transportation Commission to further the efforts. The funding includes $1.8 million for updates to the Allegheny Valley Railroad, $2 million for updates to the Pittsburgh and Ohio Central Railroad and more than $1.8 million for rehab work on the Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad in Westmoreland County.
