Sunday turned into a busy day for first responders, as 12 calls for service were reported by Indiana County 911.
Six calls were for trees or lines down throughout the county. They included calls in Blacklick, Center, Armstrong, Banks and Montgomery Townships, while Saltsburg Fire Department was called in to assist with a tree down in Westmoreland County.
Among the other calls for service:
- An Automatic Fire Alarm on South 15th Street in Indiana Borough at 9:56 AM that brought the Indiana Fire Association out.
- An unattended controlled burn along Metz Road in White Township that brought the Indiana Fire Association at 5:49 PM.
- A miscellaneous call at 6:11 PM along Spaulding Road in Cherry Tree Borough. Cherryhill Township Fire Department was called out.
- A gas leak reported along Lower Clinton Street in Canoe Township that brought Rossiter and Punxsutawney fire departments at 9:04 PM
- A transformer fire on School Street at 9:15 PM. Indiana firefighters were sent to the scene.
Two other calls were reported earlier this morning, as Vintondale and Brush Valley Township fire departments were called out to Rexis Road at 5:47 AM for what Indiana County 911 termed a “miscellaneous call”. And another report of utility lines down along Route 553 in Pine Township. Pine Township and Nicktown Fire departments were called out at 5:48 AM
