A busy week or preparation is underway for the opening of the State Farm Show in Harrisburg. The 109th Farm Show opens to the public next Saturday but judging begins for some events on Friday. The theme is “Powering Pennsylvania.”
There will be a number of new features at the Farm Show, including the opportunity to snuggle with a mini highland cow. Other new animal attractions are the Oberhasli dairy goats and cow and calf mamma-and-baby teams.
Bird attractions return but with limitations due to avian influenza. A new feature is turkey showmanship, and a turkey sale will be part of the Junior Market Livestock Sale. Ornamental eggs, feathers, and market birds are back at the show this year, too.
The Farm Show will run through Saturday, January 11th.
