For the second time in as many years, first responders were called out on Christmas Day for a fire that destroyed a building. This time, the fire was at a barn in White Township.

Indiana County 911 sent Creekside, Indiana, Marion Center, Clymer, Plumville and Elderton fire departments at 7:58 AM to the structure fire on Kauffman Road south of Creekside. Upon arrival, Cody Hitchings with the Creekside fire department said that the fire may have been burning for about an hour before the crews were dispatched. He described what he saw when he arrived.
Homer City, Aultman and Coal Run fire departments were dispatched four minutes later to provide assistance, while Rossiter and the Iselin-West Lebanon fire departments were on standby. Hitchings said that they had to deal with icy roads getting there and needed to have water shipped in for the fire by other departments, as that area did not have hydrants.

The fire destroyed the barn and its contents, including a horse. The estimated damage is $1.5 million. The barn was insured. The fire was ruled non-suspicious, and state police fire marshals will investigate today.
Last year, The Roadster Factory in Armagh caught fire on Christmas Day, destroying the building and the parts stored inside it.
