The Steelers did not protect the football and it cost them dearly in Saturday’s 34-17 loss to the Ravens in Baltimore.
Lamar Jackson threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns for Baltimore. Derrick Henry rushed for 162 yards in the victory, while Zay Flowers had five catches for 100 yards. Russell Wilson finished 22-of-33 for 217 yards and two TD’s for the Steelers, but he also lost a fumble as he reached for a touchdown in the second quarter and threw a pick six interception to Marlon Humphrey early in the fourth quarter, right after Minkah Fitzpatrick had grabbed an interception off Jackson. Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris combined for just 90 rushing yards in the setback.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says the performance was just not good enough.
The Ravens are now tied with the Steelers for the top spot in the AFC North with two games to go. They clinched a playoff spot with the win. Pittsburgh currently holds the tiebreaker based on best win percentage in conference games.
The Steelers play the third of three games in eleven days on Wednesday against the top team in the NFL, two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City.
