The Pirates have granted outfielder/first baseman Trey Cabbage his release so he can sign with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan.
Cabbage was claimed off waivers from the Astros on November 4th, but appeared blocked from competing for a spot on the Pirates’ roster after they acquired first baseman Spencer Horwitz last week.
A big trade in MLB yesterday: The Yankees acquired outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger from the Cubs for pitcher Cody Poteet. The Yanks also get $5 million to help pay Bellinger’s $27.5 million salary.
