The Penguins gave up an early goal to the LA Kings last night but kept at it and got back into the game, coming away with an overtime win. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
Coach Mike Sullivan credited the Penguins with playing tough against a very good team.
For Rickard Rakell, it was his team-leading 14th goal of the season. He says it was a great defensive game for the Pens despite giving up a goal in the first minute of the first period.
Forward Bryan Rust says the Kings play a clean game and that challenges their opponent to be mistake-free themselves.
Before the game, the Penguins placed defenseman Marcus Pettersson on injured reserve with a lower body injury. They recalled defenseman Nate Clurman, who was a 2016 draft choice of the Colorado Avalanche but has never played in the NHL. He was a healthy scratch last night.
The Penguins skate in Nashville tomorrow night.
