The Indiana County Republican Committee met on Thursday and recommended Kelly A. Pidgeon to fill the vacant county auditor position, recently held by now-Commissioner Bonni Dunlap.
Pidgeon received the majority of votes in the first round and was recommended as the Committee’s choice for recommendation to the county judges for appointment. She said in a statement that she was honored for the nomination, and that she is excited to serve Indiana County’s residents and work with other elected officials for the betterment of the county.
Pidgeon’s resume includes being a small business owner with a background in health care as an administrator of skilled nursing facilities.
Chairman Randy Degenkolb was pleased with the selection process and to those who applied for the position. He also congratulated Pidgeon, saying the committee made quote, “an excellent choice.”
The auditor position was vacated after Dunlap took over for Robin Gorman, who resigned as county commissioner on November 8th.
