Homer City Borough Council in November approved a settlement with Police Chief Anthony Jellison concerning K-9 officer Thor.
Neither Jellison nor the council would officially comment on the agreement after it was approved on November 5th. According to documents acquired through a right-to-know filing, Homer City Borough paid a $12,000 settlement to Chief Jellison. The money represents back pay for the care and upkeep of the borough’s K-9 officer. During Thor’s career, he responded to over 200 calls for service. He came to the borough in 2014, but in February, Homer City Borough Council made the decision to retire Thor, who passed away in late March of this year.
Jellison had accused the borough of not paying certain wages under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage act. The settlement agreed to represents an amicable resolution to the problem with no further legal action needed by either side.
