The Penguins are out of the basement in the NHL Metro Division and are only a point out of fourth place, but they are trending upwards, with wins in five of their last six games heading into tomorrow night’s battle against Colorado at PPG Paints Arena.
Following Saturday’s 5-2 win over Toronto, the Pens are tied with the Flyers, one point up on Columbus and one point behind the Rangers and Islanders.
Coach Mike Sullivan said the Penguins played the way they need to play against the Maple Leafs.
Tristan Jarry’s turnaround in goal for the Penguins has been dramatic. He has a four-game winning streak, with a .914 save percentage and a 2.75 goals-against average. Sullivan says Jarry has worked hard to find his game between the pipes.
After playing the Avalanche tomorrow, the Penguins visit Montreal on Thursday and Ottawa on Saturday.
