The 84th brush fire of the year was reported Sunday afternoon in Washington Township.
Indiana County 911 said the call came in at 2:20 PM for a brush fire on Route 954 North in Washington Township. Creekside, Plumville and Indiana fire departments were called to the scene at that time, while Elderton and Marion Center fire departments were dispatched about 20 minutes later for standby detail.
Creekside fire officials said on the department’s Facebook page that it was a working woods fire when they arrived, with extension to a storage shed on the property. About a half-acre of property was destroyed by fire along with the shed.
No word on the cause of the fire. A burn ban is currently in place for all of Indiana County.
