Last night, the Homer-Center School Board announced that the Graceton-Coral Sportsmen’s Club will take over the senior recognition program.
Each month during the school year, the board along with the Kiwanis Club honored a senior during the school board meeting. Along with the recognition, the club offered a scholarship and an end-of-the-year banquet for all the honorees. Recently, the program was dropped by the Kiwanis, but the board is continuing to honor standout seniors. Board member Gerald Bertig said he was able to talk to the leadership of the club and get the sponsorship.
The new program will start at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year. The board will continue to honor outstanding seniors on their own till then.
Prior to the voting meeting, the board held a reorganization meeting, re-electing Michael Bertig as board president and Dan Fabin as vice president.
