Mike Tomlin says Alex Highsmith is expected back in the lineup for the Steelers this Sunday when they play the Browns. He has missed the last three games after suffering an ankle injury against Washington in Week Ten. Tomlin twice said it’s “exciting” that he will have his entire linebacking corps healthy and available, and they’ll need them against the slippery Jameis Winston, the Browns’ quarterback who threw for 497 yards Monday night against a good Broncos defense.
Tomlin expects no surprises against the Browns this week, a team the Steelers lost to just two weeks ago.
Tomlin says Jameis Winston has a competitive fire that the Steelers need to be ready for.
On offense, the Steelers will have to account for Myles Garrett, one of the elite defensive linemen in football.
While Winston has the Browns’ offense moving up the field, the Steelers’ Russell Wilson threw for over 400 yards last Sunday against the Bengals. Tomlin can’t explain why Wilson has been such a great fit with the Steelers.
The coach says the long-awaited returns of Corey Trice and Montravius Adams from injured reserve could happen this week. Calvin Austin is in concussion protocol.

Former Green Bay Packers coach Mike Holmgren was selected as the coaching finalist for the 2025 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Former Packers receiver Sterling Sharpe, Eagles and Rams linebacker Maxie Baughan, and Chiefs offensive tackle Jim Tyrer were named player finalists in the seniors category.
The Steelers’ Art Rooney Jr. did not make the list of finalists for the “contributor” category for the Hall of Fame.
