It will be a special night in Pittsburgh tonight when former Penguins Kevin Stevens and Matt Cullen and the rest of the enshrinees for this year’s class of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame are honored.
The official induction ceremony for the Hall of Fame is in Pittsburgh this year, tomorrow at the Omni William Penn Hotel. Stevens, Cullen, Brianna Decker, the late Frederic McLaughlin, and the 2002 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team will be inducted. In addition, New York Rangers broadcaster Sam Rosen will be honored with the Lester Patrick Trophy.
On the ice at PPG Paints Arena tonight, the Penguins will bring a three-game winning streak into their game against defending Stanley Cup champion Florida. The recent success has brightened the outlook for the Pens and they are getting back to full strength, too. At practice yesterday, everyone was on hand and full contact, including Cody Glass, who remains on injured reserve but appears ready to return from his concussion.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Penguins are winning because they are playing Penguins hockey.
Sullivan credits his veteran for leading the Pens out of the wilderness.
Tonight’s game faces off shortly after 7 o’clock. We’re on the air at 6 on 92.5 FM U92.
