Coach Mike Tomlin didn’t have much to say about the Steelers’ win over Baltimore when he met the media yesterday…he was focused on this Thursday night’s game at Cleveland against the Browns.
The Steelers are 8-2 and the Browns are only 2-8, but Tomlin knows the issues when it’s Pittsburgh playing Cleveland. Tomlin says playing on a Thursday night won’t change the Steelers’ game planning, especially when it’s against the Browns.
The coach says the Steelers, particularly the younger players, are going to get a taste of a bitter rivalry played on the road in a wild atmosphere, and maybe without the powerful effect of the vaunted Steelers’ Nation.
Tomlin said the injury to defensive lineman Keeanu Benton appears to be a “non-issue”, and he wasn’t listed on the mandatory injury list. Linebacker Alex Highsmith is likely out for a second straight week with an ankle sprain.
The Browns will play without starting offensive tackle Dawand Jones, who was lost for the season on Sunday when he suffered an ankle injury against New Orleans. Tackle Jedrick Wills and tight end Geoff Swaim also missed practice yesterday.
The Steelers will fly to Cleveland tomorrow to finish up their game prep.
