IUP FOOTBALL
IUP wraps up the regular season tomorrow afternoon with a Senior Day showdown against Shippensburg at George P. Miller Stadium. The Raiders are 2-8 overall, 1-6 in the PSAC and have lost four consecutive games. IUP is 6-3, 3-3 in the conference and last played November 2nd when they won, 35-7, on the road against Gannon.
Coach Paul Tortorella says Shippensburg was hit hard by the transfer portal in the offseason, leaving them with several young, inexperienced players, but they are starting to find their rhythm.
Tortorella says Ship operates heavily out of the Wildcat formation, something the Crimson Hawks haven’t seen much of this season.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 2 from George P. Miller Stadium. Airtime is 1:30 on U92.5 FM and U92radio.com.
PITT FOOTBALL
After dropping two straight and falling out of the College Football Top 25 rankings, Pitt looks to right the ship tomorrow when they host No. 20 Clemson at Acrisure Stadium. Pitt lost to Virginia and No. 14 SMU in back-to-back weeks, while the Tigers are 7-2, 6-1 in the ACC and took down Virginia Tech last weekend on the road.
Offensive Coordinator Kade Bell knows the Pitt offense is not where it was early in the season, scoring 25 and 19 points, respectively in each of the last two games and starting slow out of the gate. He said he spoke with quarterback Eli Holstein this week and he knows he needs to get back to slinging the football.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at noon on WCCS.
