Indiana High hockey picked up a 6-2 win over Butler at S&T Bank Arena on Thursday. Both teams were scoreless after one, but Indiana’s Matt Stone broke the tie with a goal at 2:16 in the second. Joe Mains and Tyler Yount added two more throughout the period, while Butler’s Mason Heichel scored on a Power Play late in the second to make it 3-1.
Butler brought the score within one at 2:57 in the third, but Indiana’s Nick Carretti, Stone, and Jackson Albert added three unanswered goals between the seven- and 11-minute marks to pull away for the win. Luke Rowe stopped 42-of-44 shots in net for the Indians.
Indiana returns to action next Thursday when they host Wheeling Park.
HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
Today marks the first official day of practice for Indiana County’s high school basketball teams. Penns Manor’s girls and River Valley’s boys look to repeat as Heritage Conference champions, while Indiana’s girls look for another WPIAL section title.
