Dallas jumped on Joel Blomqvist early and had a four-goal lead before fans could even find their seats last night at PPG Paints Arena.

Blomqvist stopped 3-of-8 shots in only 10 minutes on the ice. Dallas also outshot the Penguins, 40-to-21 on the night.
Coach Mike Sullivan said the Stars set the tone against a lackluster Penguins defense in the first period.
Sullivan was asked if he was frustrated with the team’s inconsistency, showing signs of life in their previous two games. The coach said he’s not frustrated, but rather determined to bring this team up to speed.
Alex Nedeljkovic replaced Blomqvist in net later in the first period. He said there are highs and lows in every hockey season, and last night was a major low point.
Sidney Crosby said the Penguins have shown their potential often during the season, but they need to make it a consistent factor.
Prior to yesterday’s game, the Penguins placed forward Kevin Hayes on injured reserve with an upper-body injury and recalled forward Sam Poulin from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Poulin did not play last night.

Penguins Amateur Scout Krissy Wendell-Pohl was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame last night. Wendell-Pohl won five silver medals and one gold medal with the U.S. in six World Championships. She also played in the 2002 and 2006 Olympics, winning silver in ’02 and bronze in ’06 with the U.S. women’s national team.
