There were new faces and familiar faces not seen for quite a while on the practice field for the Steelers yesterday.
Wide receiver Mike Williams and outside linebacker Preston Smith practiced for the first time since their acquisition in trades on Tuesday, and the Steelers welcomed back center Zach Frazier, all-purpose back Cordarelle Patterson, and outside linebacker Nick Herbig, all returning from injuries. Frazier and Patterson were full participants while Herbig was limited.
Wideout Ben Skowronek also returned from a shoulder injury suffered in the season’s second game. He’s been on injured reserve so the Steelers have 21 days to either activate him to the active roster or release him.
Williams is looking forward to working with an established passer in Russell Wilson, who is known for his downfield passing.
Williams says the Steelers’ offense is versatile and explosive.
The ten-year veteran Preston Smith brings a hefty resume to the Steelers as an edge rusher. He embraces his role working in support of stars TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith.
Smith says he will show the Steelers they made a good choice in trading for him.
The Steelers will no doubt be gathered in front of their TVs tonight. NFL Week 10 kicks off with a Thursday night game between AFC North rivals Baltimore and Cincinnati. The Steelers will play both of them in the coming weeks, with four straight games within the division starting next week at home against the Ravens, followed by the Browns, the Bengals, and the Browns again.
