The Penguins visit the Carolina Hurricanes tonight and there is a possibility that Bryan Rust could return from the injured list. Rust put in a full-contact practice yesterday in New York and coach Mike Sullivan said there is a good chance the veteran forward will play during the Pens’ four-game road trip. Tonight is the second of those four games.
Forward Kevin Hayes was absent from practice and Sullivan said he is being evaluated for an upper body injury.
The Pens blew a two-goal lead in the third period on Tuesday, the fourth time they’ve lost after having a lead of two goals in a game.
Sullivan says there is no systematic problem that has caused them to lose leads late in games. They just need to play better.
Sidney Crosby is now just two goals away from his 600th career goal. Sullivan says the superstar’s goal-scoring ability isn’t as noticeable as it should be because the rest of his game is so good.
Tonight’s game in Raleigh faces off shortly after 7 PM. Airtime on 92.5 FM U92 is 6 o’clock.
