It’s a stretch to consider Bryan Reynolds anything other than a left fielder yet, but the Pirates’ slugger has been named a finalist for the National League Silver Slugger Award…as a utility player.
Reynolds did play some right field this season and has played a lot of center field in the past. He hit 24 home runs for the Bucs this season. His competition for the Silver Slugger is the overwhelming favorite, Mookie Betts of the Dodgers, along with the Padres’ Luis Arraez and the Marlins’ Jake Burger.
Reynolds might be better qualified for the utility designation after next season…he’s spending his offseason learning to play first base.
