The Steelers’ players will report to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex today after their bye week, but the front office has been busy even with the team away.
The NFL trade deadline is tomorrow. The Steelers are in the market for a wide receiver but they’ve had no luck so far. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the Steelers were “in the process” of trading for Jaguars wideout Christian Kirk before he broke his collarbone last week. Another potential target, the Giants’ Darius Slayton, went down with a possible concussion yesterday. The deadline is at 4 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
The 6-2 Steelers open the week as 2-and-a-half point underdogs to the Washington Commanders, whom they play on Sunday. Washington is 7-2 after beating the Giants, 27-22, yesterday.
Steelers possibly slated to return to the field this week include rookie center Zach Frazier, who has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, and nickel cornerback Cam Sutton, who has completed his eight-game league suspension.
In the AFC North yesterday, Baltimore and Cincinnati both dominated their games. The Ravens hammered the Broncos, 41-10, while the Bengals outscored the Raiders, 41-24. The Browns lost again, 27-10, to the Chargers.
The Steelers lead the division at 6-2 with the Ravens right behind at 6-3. The Bengals are 4-5 and the Browns 2-7. The Bengals will play the Ravens in Baltimore this Thursday night. The Browns are on their bye week and are expected to be very active in the trade market, selling off players for draft picks.
