The top two finishers in the Heritage Conference – champion Cambria Heights and runner-up Northern Cambria – were winners Friday night in the first round of the District 6 Class AA and A football playoffs.
In Class AA, No.1 seed Cambria Heights came back to defeat No. 8 McCort-Carroll, 24-17, on Renda Digital TV. The Highlanders trailed at halftime, 17-10, then scored 14 unanswered points in the second half.

Cambria Heights will play No. 5 Bellwood-Antis in the semifinals on Renda Digital TV with details to be announced. Bellwood-Antis beat No. 4 River Valley, 43-14, on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
In Class A, No. 2 Northern Cambria and No. 7 Portage were tied, 7-7, early on, but the Colts pulled away for a 27-7 win on Renda Digital TV. The Colts will take on conference rival No. 6 Penns Manor, which upset No. 3 Moshannon Valley, 30-8, on WCCS. Pat Dougherty has the recap.

Back in AA, No. 6 Marion Center took No. 3 Mt. Union to double overtime and came out 35-27 winners on U92.5 FM. Todd Marino has the recap.
No. 7 United Valley’s season ended with a 37-12 loss to No. 2 Richland in AA. Richland will take on Marion Center in the semifinals.
In other Class A action, No. 1 Bishop Guilfoyle blanked No. 8 Juniata Valley, 49-0, and No. 5 Claysburg-Kimmel beat No. 4 Glendale, 32-12.
