The District 6 playoffs kick off tonight with six Heritage Conference teams in action, two of them against each other.
In Class 2A, where the top seed, undefeated Heritage Conference champion Cambria Heights, tackles number eight McCort/Carroll, which is 5-5 and coming off two straight losses, including a 34-33 defeat by Bellwood Antis last week. It’s on Renda Digital TV starting at 6:15.
Highlanders coach Jarrod Lewis says they have to take care of business against a battled-hardened opponent.
On Cat Country 106.3 FM and online at catcountry1063fm.com, it’s another AA matchup as fourth-seeded River Valley hosts number five Bellwood Antis, a traditional power out of Blair County. It airs at 6:30.
Panthers coach Jess Houser says Bellwood quarterback Holden Schreier is dangerous.
Houser says River Valley will be looking for big plays on offense and defense…and elsewhere.
On 92.5 FM U92 tonight, the number six Marion Center Stingers visit third seed Mount Union in a AA matchup, airtime at 6:30.
Coach Adam Rising says his Stingers are improving week by week.
Rising expects it to be close all the way.
There is one other AA game that involves a Heritage Conference team. Seventh seed United Valley is on the road at number two Richland. We are unable to bring that game to you, but Lions fans can catch it on the Richland Rams Football Network. Here’s the link:

In Class A, there are two games involving Heritage Conference teams.
On Renda Digital TV, seventh-seeded Portage visits number two Northern Cambria in a rematch of last week’s Heritage Conference finale, which the Colts won, 28-14. Northern Cambria is 9-1, Portage is 4-6. It airs at 6:15.
Records notwithstanding, Colts coach Sam Shutty says last week’s game showed how tough the Mustangs are.
Shutty says playing the same team in consecutive weeks is a challenge for a coaching staff.
Mustangs coach Marty Slanoc says Northern Cambria won’t surprise anyone. They’ll just play well, and that makes them hard to beat.
Slanoc says there won’t be many adjustments in the game plan, with only a week between games.
And on WCCS and wccsradio.com, it’s a 6:30 airtime for number six Penns Manor, making the trip to number four Moshannon Valley. The Comets are 5-5, and the Black Knights are 6-4.
Penns Manor coach Bill Packer says quarterback Amin Lieb, who has played it close to the vest since he was hurt in September in the Portage game, will open it up this week, and is ready to scramble if needed.
We wrap up all of the action tomorrow morning on WDAD with the Luther Ford Coaches Corner, starting at 8 AM.
