The Penguins dragged a six-game losing streak into last night’s game against Anaheim at PPG Paints Arena, but Sidney Crosby led an energetic attack from the opening faceoff, and they snapped out of their slump with an overtime win. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
Forward Blake Lizotte made his Penguins debut and centered the fourth line. He had been out since suffering a concussion in the preseason when he was struck in the head by a puck while sitting on the bench. He was a free agent acquisition last summer after playing six seasons with the LA Kings.
The Penguins also activated forward Vasily Ponomarev and assigned him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He’d been on injured reserve with a preseason shoulder injury.
