UPDATE:
Commodore Fire Department released more information on a brush fire that happened yesterday.
The fire call first went out at 5:52 PM with Commodore Fire Department dispatched to what was initially reported as a fire behind the Dixonville Post Office. Crews now say that the fire was across from the post office, burning uphill behind a few residences. Marion Center and Clymer fire departments were called in within a half hour after the first report, but the three crews were able to contain the fire.
3/4ths of an acre of ground was damaged by the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was someone burning garbage.
WHAT WAS FIRST REPORTED
The 57th brush fire of the year brought out three fire companies in the eastern part of Indiana County.
The fire was first reported at 5:52 PM by Indiana County 911, with Commodore fire department initially dispatched to the scene along Route 403 in Green Township. Clymer and Marion Center firefighters were deployed within a half-hour to assist on scene. Marion Center fire officials posted on their Facebook page that the fire was moving up a hillside behind the Dixonville post office.
No official word yet on how much property was damaged in the fire or what was responsible for starting it.
