There is quarterfinal action tonight in the District 6 volleyball tournament. In Class A, Northern Cambria will host Glendale while another Heritage Conference team, Conemaugh Valley, visits Ferndale.
CROSS COUNTRY
It was a big day for the Heritage Conference in the District 6 cross country championships on Saturday. Thirteen of the top twenty finishers in Class A were Heritage Conference runners, including the champion, Colton Henning of United, and teammate Matthew Beaver, who finished third. Others in the top ten were Marion Center’s Seth Boring (4th), Portage’s Logan Gentile (6th), Purchase Line’s Scott Kephart (8th), and United’s Luke Shepler (9th).
Marion Center’s Brooke Slade was 9th in the Girls’ AA race, and West Shamokin’s Jasmine Lucullo was 5th in Class A.
For the state meet this Saturday in Hershey, United will send Matthew Beaver, Garin Fischer, Colton Henning, Hayden Hill, Dallas Pearce, Noah Pisarcik, Luke Shepler, and Keydun Tomalson.
Marion Center qualified Connor Evans, John Ferraro III, Hayden Fox, Rayden Long, Adam Ryer, Carson Wells, Seth Boring and Colton Blazavich. Purchase Line qualified Jacob Kauffman and Scott Kephart and Portage qualified Logan Gentile.
For the girls, Brooke Slade was the only Heritage Conference qualifier in AA, while Jasmine Lucullo was the only Class A qualifier.
