Coach Joe Lombardi is gearing up for his 19th season at IUP and this season will have a different flavor to it, as it will mark the first time he’s had to retool his roster.
Returning to the team this year is guard Dallis Dillard, who averaged 15.8 points a game last year before missing most of the season with a knee injury. Forward Damir Brooks and guard Sarp Furtun are also back, but both had limited playing time last season. Lombardi also added transfers Alfonso Pickens, Jr., a guard from Albany Tech; forward Luke Triggs from Mercyhurst; and guard Christian Moore from New Hampshire.
IUP was picked fourth in the PSAC Preseason Coaches Poll and Lombardi said during the conference’s virtual media day that he likes his roster’s makeup but reloading the depth chart will be a new experience.
Cal was picked first in the poll, with Slippery Rock and Gannon rounding out the top three. East Stroudsburg was picked first in the east.
The women’s poll will be released at noon.
