River Valley’s Jake Pynos is tied for 10th place after the first round of the PIAA AA golf championships, with West Shamokin’s Alex Talmadge one shot behind him. Pynos fired a one over par 73, with birdies on 8 and 11, on Penn State’s Blue Course yesterday. Talmadge got off to a rough start, bogeying four of the first five holes, but his round also included an eagle 3 on number 12 and birdies on 16 and 18.
West Shamokin’s Gunnar Shoop is nine over, in a 48th place tie. River Valley’s Jeremy Reed shot 17 over and West Shamokin’s Logan Geist is 20 over.
Ethan Dai of Quaker Valley leads the tournament at four under.

Fox Chapel ended Indiana’s season with an 8-0 first-round win in the WPIAL playoffs.
