BOYS SOCCER
What a night for Gideon Bracken and the United boys, who blitzed Johnstown, 9-1.
Bracken scored five goals and had two assists, and broke the all-time goals-scored record at United. He has 83 career goals, one more than assistant coach Dylan Dishong, his former teammate.
Garin Fischer scored two goals, Carter Payne had a goal and two assists, including one on Bracken’s record-setting goal, and Aedyn Montgomery scored a goal. In addition to Payne and Bracken each getting two assists, Jackson Wirick had two, and Noah Woods and Aiden Harasty each had one.
INDIANA
A big Section matchup for Indiana, which gets a goal from Tim Birch to beat Hampton 1-0. Indiana is 14-2, 9-2 in AAA Section 1, while the Talbots fell to 9-3-3, 6-2-3 in Section.
HOCKEY
Zdeno Dzuro broke a 2-2 tie with a goal at the 14:03 mark of the second period, and Ryan Bell added two goals in the third period to solidify the lead as Indiana beat Freeport 5-2. Joe Mains scored in the first period for Indiana and Tyler Yount added a goal in the second to make it 2-0, but Freeport tied the game before Dzuro’s goal. Luke Rowe made 16 saves for Indiana.
Indiana is back on the ice next Thursday at home against Avonworth.
VOLLEYBALL
On Senior Salute Night, Indiana swept McKeesport, 3-0. The game scores were 25-14, 25-10, and 25-10. Paige Fisanich had 8 kills; Stella Stossel had 7 kills; Hannah Cowburn had 26 assists; and Rebecca Roccetti had 4 aces and 7 digs.
Indiana moves to 11-0 in the section.
