Pitt opened its ACC schedule with a win on the road Saturday at North Carolina, and the Panthers return home to Acrisure Stadium for their second conference game, but it won’t be against a traditional ACC opponent. California travels across the country for its first game against Pitt since 1966.
The 3-2 Golden Bears led 35-10 with 8:06 left to play in the third quarter against Miami on Saturday but lost, 39-38. Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said at his weekly news conference yesterday that Cal is battle-hardened.
This is the fourth meeting ever between Pitt and Cal, with the Panthers winning in 1955 and the Golden Bears winning in 1956 and 1966.
