Week Seven arrives and high school football teams are beginning the stretch run of the regular season with an eye on the District 6 playoffs. Tonight there are three Heritage Conference games and one in the WPIAL on our Renda Media stations.
On 92.5 FM U92, 4-2 Marion Center is on the road at Purchase Line, which is 2-4. Stingers coach Adam Rising says his team has to rebound from a loss last week to Northern Cambria, and against a tough opponent.
PL’s coach Matt Falisec says Marion Center comes as advertised.
On Cat Country 106.3 FM, 5-1 River Valley will take its high-powered offense to winless Conemaugh Valley. Panthers coach Jess Houser says the Blue Jays are next in line for his surging football team.
Houser wants to see a lot of three-and-outs from his defense tonight.
On WCCS and Renda Digital TV, 1-5 Homer-Center is coming off a win over Conemaugh Valley and looking for momentum against winless West Shamokin. Wildcats coach Greg Page says the Wolves’ young quarterback, Cole Wingard, is impressive.
Page says West Shamokin is big and tough and their record is deceiving.
Page says the Wolves make a defense work.
West Shamokin’s Phil Parks knows Homer-Center and West Shamokin always put on a show.
Parks has the keys to a win for West Shamokin.
The other games in the Heritage Conference include first place undefeated Cambria Heights visiting 3-3 Conemaugh Township, a couple of 5-1 teams doing battle at Penns Manor, where the Comets host Northern Cambria, and 3-3 United Valley taking their two-game win streak to 2-4 Portage.
The Indiana Total Therapy pregame begins at 6:30 for the Marion Center/Purchase Line game on U92, and for the River Valley/Conemaugh Valley game on Cat Country. It’s a 6:15 start for Homer-Center/West Shamokin on WCCS and Renda Digital TV.
