GIRLS GOLF
River Valley’s girls golf team won the school’s first-ever District 6 championship yesterday with a narrow, two-stroke win over Westmont Hilltop and Forest Hills at Windber Country Club. Ashley Pynos led the way with a seventh place finish in the individual competition. She and fellow juniors Sara Bollinger, Madigan Dunlap, Maren Dunlap, Alessia Lamantia, and Ashlynn Reid, along with freshmen Alex McDowell and Nicole Annon capped off a record-breaking season, going 13-2.
Unfortunately, River Valley’s score did not qualify them for inclusion in the state Team Regional, so their season has come to an end. Additionally, only three girls qualify for the individual tournament, and none of River Valley’s golfers hit that mark.
