The Pittsburgh Pirates start the final series of the season with a victory over the New York Yankees in Yankee Stadium 4-2.
The Yankees got on the board first with a two-RBI grounder by Jazz Chisolm, Jr in the bottom of the 5th inning. Nick Gonzales and Bryan Reynolds had back-to-back solo homers in the top of the 6th to tie it up, then Reynolds had a two-run shot in the top of the 8th to give the Pirates the lead for good. Jared Jones got a no-decision, being pulled after 4 and a thirds innings and not looking happy about it. He gave up two runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking two. Carmen Mlodzinski picked up the win in relief and Aroldis Chapman notched his 13th save of the season.
The Pirates and Yankees play again today, and it will be the final start this season for Paul Skenes, who is 11-3 with a 1.99 ERA. The Yanks are sending Luis Gil, who is 15-6 with a 3.27 ERA. Airtime 12:40 on WCCS.
