The River Valley STEAM Academy in Saltsburg will see two major events next week.
One of those is a visit by a representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Director of Career and Technical Education Judd Pittman will visit the academy on Tuesday as part of a roundtable discussion with other county leaders. Officials with Pitt, the Community College of Allegheny County, Westinghouse, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, REA, CNX and the County Chamber will also take part in the discussion, which will be moderated by Byron Stauffer.
The next day, the STEAM academy will celebrate the grand opening of its new CVS Skills Lab. The classroom will replicate an actual CVS pharmacy and give students on-the-job training and real-world experience for those pursuing a career in healthcare. That is scheduled for 6:00 to 6:30 PM and will be part of the school’s open house for students and parents.
